Making Primary Care More Accessible for Everyone

Drawing on lived experience and expert research, this guide and its assessment tools offer clear, actionable steps to improve the design of healthcare environments—reducing anxiety, promoting independence, and ensuring dignity for all.

At Dimensions, we believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare.

‘Designing for Everyone’ has brought together our #MyGPandMe campaign and work with the Patients Association to delve much deeper into individual experiences of primary care environments.

The ‘Guide for Cognitively Inclusive Design in Primary Care Environments’, developed in partnership with Assura and the University of Worcester, is a practical resource to help make GP surgeries and health centres more welcoming and supportive for people with learning disabilities, autism, dementia, and other cognitive differences.

Whether you’re a healthcare provider, designer, or advocate, this guide supports our shared mission to make healthcare truly inclusive.
