Assessing Accessibility: A Tool to Support Inclusive Primary Care Design

‘Full Environmental Assessment Tool’ is a practical resource developed to help identify how well GP surgeries and health centres support inclusive design.
Health

As part of our commitment to improving healthcare access for people with learning disabilities and autistic people, Dimensions is proud to share the ‘Full Environmental Assessment Tool’ – a practical resource developed in partnership with Assura and the University of Worcester.

This tool helps identify how well GP surgeries and health centres support cognitively inclusive design, focusing on everything from lighting and acoustics to signage, waiting areas, and outdoor spaces.

Designed to be used collaboratively by carers, patients, and healthcare teams, it offers a structured way to assess and improve spaces – making primary care more welcoming, calming, and accessible for everyone.

Use it alongside the ‘Designing for Everyone’ guide to start meaningful conversations and drive positive change in your local healthcare spaces.
