Our experts by experience

Shaping our priorities

Interviewing

Our Quality Consultants sit on interview panels for recruiting to positions at many levels across Dimensions including all senior roles. They ensure we’re employing people with the right values and have a substantial influence on recruitment decision making.

Induction

Our Quality Consultants and Family Consultants also act as Listen Up induction trainers. They share their backgrounds, their stories and their experience of what good and bad support really feels like. Induction is the most important moment in a colleague’s career at Dimensions and our Quality Consultants play a huge role in shaping it.

47
In 2024, 47 people we support and family members were paid to be ‘experts by experience,’ helping us interview, induct, quality check and resolve conflict.

Quality Checking

Our Quality Consultants and Family Consultants join Dimensions’ internal auditors during their regular inspections of the quality of a person’s life and home. They bring a wealth of experience and often spot things the auditors might miss. Working closely with the manager, they help us maintain some of the highest CQC ratings around. We’re proud of what they do — it really makes a difference!

Resolving conflict

Things can and do go wrong, and at difficult times it is essential that there is a strong, trusting relationship between our support teams and the family or loved ones of the person we support.

When this relationship is strained or broken, things usually get worse.

Our family consultants, all of whom have a loved one with a learning disability themselves, are there to bridge the gap, to protect or rebuild trust, and to ensure we learn and improve. The role is a priceless feature of our support.
