Shaun’s first independent holiday
Every summer without fail the people of Britain pack their bags to head off on holiday. We’re happy to say that this year Shaun, a man we support in the North, was no exception to this.
We have supported Shaun for just over two years now but during this time he has never been on holiday without his family.
This year was the year for change and Shaun, his support team and his parents worked together to pick the perfect location for his summer break.
They decided on a caravan holiday by the scenic Northumbrian coast and the following week Shaun was supported to visit the holiday park ahead of his trip.
This visit enabled him to check out the facilities and layout of the site to ensure he was fully comfortable. He was, and shortly after it was time for the real thing!
Staff were thrilled to see how quickly Shaun settled in on the first day of the holiday – he chose his room, unpacked his things and made himself at home in the caravan straight away.
Over the next four days he visited Berwick-upon-Tweed, Bamburgh Castle, East Lothian in Scotland, Wooler in the Cheviots and the picturesque coastal town of Seahouses.
At the latter he also enjoyed fresh caught cod and chips and played a tremendous game of crazy golf – it was quite a day!
Shaun thoroughly enjoyed his holiday and he, his support team and his family are now hoping to arrange one every year.
