Alison’s fundraising in memory of her Mum

The death of a parent is always a heart-breaking event to endure. But Alison, a lady we support in Derby, has turned her grief into something positive by fundraising for a charity working to cure cancer for good.

Alison recently ran the Race For Life, a famous 5k race held around the country to raise money for Cancer Research UK,  in memory of her Mum.

Its ethos that it doesn’t matter if you walk, jog or run the race – but it’s the taking part and raising money that counts – is something that Alison embodied on that warm Sunday in July.

Adorning her all-pink ensemble, she completed the race in 1 hour 11 minutes alongside her support worker Laura. This was the third year running that she has completed the race and she shows no intention of slowing down.

She has so far made a brilliant £78 for Cancer Research UK with that number only rising.

Well done Alison – we can’t wait hear how you get on in 2018.
