Chris’s plane collection is flying high
Hobbies are, in many ways, like fantastic support – they’re unique to the individual and change lives for the better.
And for Chris, a gentleman with autism who we support in Old Windsor, his passion for planes has taken him across the country and impacted his life in an incredibly positive way.
In that time his collection has grown extensively – there are planes hung from the ceiling or placed meticulously on tabletops around his flat in which he has lived for the past 10 years.
Indeed, his support staff are in awe of his precise and extensive knowledge of his collection.
“I’ve been collecting model planes for years. I think the hurricane, spitfire and tiger moths are my favourite models” says Chris.
“I’ve been up to see some of the planes fly in person. I have over 100 models in total.”
This year, he has even created a Centenary exhibition to mark the 100 year anniversary of the Royal Air Force.
With so many models, you might think that Chris would run out of space for any new additions to his collection.
However, he is keen to give back to his local community by donating older models to local charity shops so they can find their way into the collections of other model plan enthusiasts.
