Sarah celebrates with £500 award from McDonalds

Sarah, who has mild learning disabilities, has been working part-time at Mcdonalds for the past 20 years.

She arrived to her usual Tuesday-morning shift recently only to be surprised with £500 worth of shopping vouchers.

We started supporting Sarah in 2011, when she moved from living at home with her parents to a supported living service.

This greater freedom has allowed her even more independence, choice and control over her life.

When she’s not enjoying activities at home, she’s attending day-centre or going to work. She’s incredibly independent, and loves going out and enjoying activities.

One of Sarah’s first goals when we started supporting her was to become more financially independent. She now handles all of her own finances with support from us and even saved up the money from her job at McDonalds to buy an iPad.

With the £500 vouchers, Sarah is planning on buying a new winter wardrobe, and redecorating her kitchen.

Congratulations Sarah, and enjoy spending your vouchers – they certainly are well deserved.
