Dimensions to welcome new Chair

We are pleased to announce that Nick Baldwin CBE has been appointed to serve as the new Chair of the Dimensions Board, succeeding Helen Baker.

Nick will bring with him a wealth of hugely relevant leadership experience and expertise in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. He served as the Chair of Ambitious about Autism, and of Sanctuary Housing Group, from 2008 to 2014.

Nick Baldwin CBE has been appointed to serve as the new Chair of the Dimensions Board.

Nick also has substantial executive board experience in regulated industries, including as Chief Executive of Powergen plc (a FTSE 100 company) from 2001 to 2002 and as the current chair of the Office for Nuclear Regulation. He is a Chartered Engineer by profession and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and of the Institution of Engineering and Technology among others.

Nick said, “Firstly, my thanks go to outgoing chair Helen Baker, under whose talented stewardship Dimensions has so clearly become a thriving, successful, popular Group. Helen leaves an organisation in good financial shape which delivers great support to many thousands of people countrywide.

“I’m delighted to be joining Dimensions at what is a challenging time for everyone in our sector. I look forward to working with the Board and the leadership team on the next stage of our development.

“In my first weeks and months I am particularly looking forward to meeting colleagues in all parts of the Group; their insights will be invaluable as we work together to help realise the ambitions and goals of the people we exist to support.”

Helen Baker, whose five-year term as Chair is coming to an end, welcomed Nick’s appointment saying, “I have enormously enjoyed my time with Dimensions and am proud of all that we have achieved working with our exceptional staff, with the people we support and their families and friends, and with all our partners.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Nick Baldwin as my successor with all the skills and experience he brings, but also knowing how much he believes in all we are trying to do. I am confident that Dimensions will continue to grow in strength and impact under his leadership.”

Nick will officially take up his position at the AGM in September.
