The Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List 2018

The Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List 2018 is the UK’s first national listing of people with learning disabilities and/or autism who are helping make things better for themselves and others. You could be one of them.

Entries for the Leader’s List 2018 are now closed. If you have entered yourself or nominated someone else, we will be in touch soon.

The winning stories will make the Leaders’ List and will help change society faster, and make things better for everyone.

If you have a learning disability and/or autism you can share your story. If you know someone with a learning disability and/or autism you can nominate them.

What is the Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List?

The Leaders’ List is a project created for its first year in 2018 by not-for-profit support provider Dimensions, in association with Learning Disability England, VODG and the Guardian newspaper.

It will be a collection of stories from people who have learning disabilities and/or autism who are making a difference and getting involved:

  • in their local community
  • at a national level
  • in sports, art or entertainment
  • in jobs and education.

Two winners will also be selected for the Young Leader (under the age of 30) and Lifetime Achievement awards.

Everybody who shares their story (or is nominated by someone else) will receive a certificate thanking them for getting involved and celebrating their achievement.

Celebrating the winners

The Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List 2018 will be published on the International Day of Disabled Persons in December.

The top-60 list will be published in the Guardian newspaper and on theguardian.com website, with interviews with 10 handpicked individuals. All winners will be profiled on the Dimensions website, and shared across social media.

An aim of the Leaders’ List is to help the media find brilliant spokespeople for future stories, to help speed up social change.

We will encourage national, local and specialist journalists to take a look at the Leaders’ List whenever they are looking for experts by experience.
