Cineworld autism friendly screenings

In response to the government’s advice to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Cineworld has decided to close their venues and cancel scheduled autism friendly cinema screenings.

Cineworld’s statement about cinema closures

“Cineworld Cinemas will be closing until further notice | COVID-19 Customer Update

“We will be closing all Cineworld cinemas across the UK from tomorrow (Wednesday, 18 March) and in Ireland from today (Tuesday, 17 March 2020), until further notice. This decision was made in the light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and recent UK government advice, which the company has been carefully monitoring and following.

“We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all of our employees and guests. We deeply value our movie-loving customers and their health and wellbeing is our number one priority during this difficult time. We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible to enjoy a full slate of film releases.

Cineworld have been hosting autism friendly cinema screenings since 2012 and now their sensory friendly films are at over 100 cinemas at least once a month.

What makes a cinema screening autism friendly?

Sometimes you might also see an autism friendly screening being described as a relaxed screening or a sensory friendly screening. This means there are some adjustments in place to help reduce the stress and sensory input people with autism and other sensory sensitivities can experience.

Which Cineworld cinemas show autism friendly screenings?

This Google Map shows you which Cineworld cinemas participate in our autism friendly screenings. We will list any cinemas not participating in a particular screening and further information on the event page linked below.

While we try to keep this map up to date we recommend checking with your local cinema or booking tickets in advance.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets are available to book around 5 days in advance. There are a number of ways you can book tickets for Cineworld’s autism friendly screenings. Select the film listed as an autism friendly screening and follow the booking process:

  1. On the Cineworld website
  2. Via the Cineworld Box Office on 0871 200 2000 (calls cost 12p per minute from a BT landline. Mobile and other providers may vary)
  3. At your local cinema.
