Promoting equal opportunities with our Social Care Charter

Dimensions Social Care Charter outlines five key commitments that the people we support want Dimensions to pursue with and for them.

Dimensions Council Co-Chair, Ann, helped launched the Charter at Parliament.

Dimensions believes people with learning disabilities and autism should have equal chances to live the life they choose. In response to this need, the people we support at Dimensions developed the ‘Social Care Charter’.

We call these pledges, and, in working towards them, we will make a positive and lasting difference to people’s lives.

Accordingly, the Social Care Charter underpins Dimensions’ campaigning work, ensuring that the people we support are front and centre of all our decisions.

The pledges are:

  • I want choice and control over my money
  • I want opportunities for greater independence
  • I want to be a part of my community
  • I want to have control and choice over my relationships
  • I want to have a voice and be listened to.

The people we support continue to raise awareness of the Social Care Charter. They have secured over 2,000 signatures of support, including many MPs, social care providers, umbrella groups, members of the public and other people with learning disabilities and autism.
