Sheffield

Welcome to the Sheffield region of Dimensions
We support over 90 people with learning difficulties in Sheffield. Our purpose is to help the people we support to live the life they want, and we believe that people with learning difficulties should be respected, have the same opportunities in life as everyone else, and make their own choices and decisions.
Type of services we offer
We provide a wide variety of support services in our region. These include:
- group living services, for people living in shared housing
- supported living services, providing individualised support packages for people living in their own homes
- registered residential care homes
We are able provide other types of support service where appropriate, including transitional services for young people with a learning difficultly aged 16 – 21 years.
Our aims
As a region, we are always looking at ways to improve the service we offer to the people we support. The following are things that we're working on to help the people we support to live the life they want:
- to assist the people we support with developing their own 'person centred' plan, which focuses on their needs and aspirations
- to enable the people we support to have information on employment and employment opportunities
- to enable the people we support to have the opportunity to develop relationships with people in the community
- to recruit and retain good staff who share our values
- to work in partnership with friends and family to develop the most effective support package for all the people we support
Gwyneth's story
Gwyneth is a Dimensions employee, working two days a week as our office cleaner. Her duties include loading and emptying the dishwasher, hoovering, polishing and mopping the kitchen floor. Gwyneth is involved with the running of Dimensions – she is an active participant at our Regional Advisory Forums, where the people we support have their say about what we're doing well (and not so well!). She is also involved in a lot of staff recruitment, often meeting and greeting job candidates. Out of work, Gwyneth attends college and enjoys swimming, baking, and dancing – and in the spare time she has left, she volunteers in a local charity shop!
