South Yorkshire
We support 96 people with learning difficulties and autism in South Yorkshire. Our aim is to help the people we support to live the life they want. We believe that people with learning difficulties and autism should be respected, have the same opportunities in life as everyone else and make their own choices and decisions.
Type of services we offer
We provide a wide variety of support services in our region. These include:
- Group living services for people living in shared housing;
- Supported living services, providing individualised support packages for people living in their own homes;
- Registered residential care homes.
We are able provide other types of support services including transitions services for young people with a learning disability or autism aged between 14 and 24 years.
Our aims
As a region, we are always looking at ways to improve the service we offer to the people we support. We provide the following support:
- Assist the people we support with developing their own 'person centred' plan, which focuses on their needs and aspirations;
- Enable the people we support to have information on employment and employment opportunities
- to enable the people we support to have the opportunity to develop relationships with people in the community;
- Recruit and retain good staff who share our values;
- Work in partnership with friends and family to develop the most effective support package for all the people we support.
Alan's story
Alan is the Regional Liaison Officer for Sheffield. His job involves visiting locations across the region and 'road testing' services to check how easy they are to access. His reviews are proving to be a great help to people with disabilities. Alan has taken on more responsibility in his role.
