Peter's art business

"My name is Peter Jones, I am 44 and I was born in Wales. I moved to Hartlepool when I was a small child. I now live independently with three of my friends.

"I have many interests, art and indoor bowls being my favourite. I represent Hartlepool in the special Olympics with indoor bowls and have gained several medals.

"I have enjoyed painting and drawing since I was a child. I attend an art class every Thursday, where a tutor helps me with my techniques. I vary my technique depending on the piece, although watercolour is my favourite. I paint pictures of countryside scenes, buildings, places and wild animals. Once I have completed my art work I choose the frames and mounts.

"My confidence in this area has grown a great deal over the past year. I began by holding my first art exhibition within my own home in May '06'. Since then I have held another in the community for the public and I held a successful exhibition in Hartlepool Central Library, which featured on the local news.

"I was recently awarded an employment grant by Dimensions to start my own business. I have also purchased top of the range art material."
