Larry Grady"When I was at University some friends and I set up a charity that ran activity holidays for children with disabilities. We used to go canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling etc.. around Pembrokeshire in South Wales - my favourite part of the country. After University I started to think about how much I loved these holidays and decided to get a job working with people with disabilities.

"Lots of my highlights of my time with Dimensions are about the people I've met through this job. There are some big things that have happened - helping people to move into their own homes, people we support finding work for the first time, the launch of Support Horizons – a Social Enterprise Employment Agency set up and run by people with learning disabilities, seeing two of the people we support marry and get their own home. I think there are a lot of other highlights though - spending time with people and seeing the (sometimes very small) changes that mean that they can take a little bit more control over their lives.

"Recently we've been doing our review of what's been going on in the region over the last year - and looking forward to next year. Some really good stuff has happened - and it's sometimes easy to forget about this when we're all so busy. It's also a reminder though that there are loads of things we can do better, and differently to get things right for each of the people we support. We also have some new services opening up in our region at the moment ( a supported living service in Oxford and a Short Breaks service in Newbury) which is really exciting.

"Everyone is completely unique and that means that the job I do has almost endless variety. I think that life, and working with people, are essentially about change - working with great people to find new ways of changing things for the better is about the best thing you could find to do."
