A Home of My Own

We are currently undertaking a long term transitions research project, 'A Home of My Own'.

We are recruiting young people from within Dimensions and outside the organisation, between the ages of 19-30, who have moved into their own home and have had a positive experience doing so. Our research will look at how person - centred planning, individualised budgets and direct payments have made a positive difference to these young people's lives in finding a home of their own.

During Spring 2008, we will be interviewing all the young people and their parents or support workers to find out their stories. These findings will then be written up in an easy read format and presented at our conference in November 2008.

Image: Images/mattsw.JPGThe aim of this research is to share our positive experience with other young people and their families, and to help them to find a home of their own.

In 2009/10 we will be tracking the young people and their families as they begin to implement our findings. At the end of the project, we will write and publish a report to share what we have learnt, and how we can move forward.
