DIMENSIONS APPOINTS NEW LEARNING DISABILITY SECTOR ADVISOR
Dimensions is pleased to announce that Simon Cramp has been appointed the organisation's Learning Disability Sector Advisor. Simon will be joining the communications team on 20 October to take up the newly created role.
Simon was previously a member of the Dimensions board. His new responsibilities will include acting as a spokesperson for Dimensions. He will also provide comment on what is happening in the sector and how it is affecting people with learning difficulties. As part of his role, Simon will also keep a regular blog on the Dimensions website.
Simon brings his vast experience as a consultant on advocacy and social justice issues to the position. He has a great deal of experience within the sector, co-founding Self-Direct, a social enterprise scheme looking at how self-directed support can play a part in social care as well as sitting on the board of Ofcom's Advisory Committee on Older and Disabled People. Simon is also a member of the Royal Society of Medicine's forum for learning disability and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Speaking about his new role, Simon Cramp says:
"As a person with learning difficulties, I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and personal experience of the sector and policy issues to the organisation. It is a great opportunity for me and I am excited about taking on this new role."
David Wolverson, Chief Executive of Dimensions says:
"Simon has a wide breadth of experience with the issues surrounding learning difficulties, which make him ideally suited to the position. With Simon on board, we are better placed to help the people we support live the lives they want."
